Formerly part of Jacobabad District, the area comprising Talukas Kashmore, Kandhkot and Tangwani was reconstituted as the new District of Kashmore (headquartered at Kandhkot) on December 13, 2004, to improve public facilities and access. This district serves as a gateway to Balochistan province via Tangwani and to Punjab's Rajanpur District via Kashmore. Well-connected by both the Indus Highway and railway with stations at Bakhshapur, Kandhkot, Tangwani, and Haibat Shaheed. The district saw its own District Court established at Kandhkot in July 2005 following the administrative division.

Geographically District Kashmore at Kandhkot spreads over the area of 640,459 acres (1006 sq. miles).

Courts in the District

For the administration of justice, 08 Courts of Law are establised in District Head Quarter in Kandhkot and 05 Courts of law are established in the Talukas of District. Every court has its own jurisdiction which exercises its powers, laid down by the law, for provision of justice to the litigants.
